2012 Governors Awards for Excellence in Performance

Monday, September 17, 2012 12:13:27 PM

(HELENA) - Governor Brian Schweitzer and Lt. Governor John Bohlinger announced the 2012 recipients of the Governor's Awards for Excellence in Performance today at a ceremony in Helena. In its 23rd year, the awards ceremony is a way for the Governor to publicly recognize outstanding state employees.

"This is a great opportunity to draw special attention to people who do the work that matters for the people of Montana day in and day out," Governor Brian Schweitzer said. "One of the reasons we have had the largest budget surplus in state history in the past seven years is because we have asked state employees to do more with less. We have some of the best public workers in the nation. I thank them for finding ways to keep doing the people's work with less. Today I am handing out awards to 214 outstanding representatives of all state employees, from 29 communities from around Montana. Every one of these communities should be proud to have these workers in their towns."
