Increased Security Measures Taken at Montana's CapitolFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Continuing Montana's heightened security awareness and preparedness planning, Governor Judy Martz today directed additional security measures at the Capitol and continued additional review of all state agencies' security operations. As a continuation of enhanced Capitol complex security measures, barriers have been placed limiting vehicle access near the building. "Common sense dictates that each of us must maintain a vigilant awareness," said Martz. "We, as a nation and state, have been attacked and are targeted by terrorist forces. Each of us has the fundamental responsibility of taking care of ourselves and watching over our neighbors." Montana has been included in a terrorist threat advisory for the western United States. However, to date, no specific threats are known regarding the state or its infrastructure. Montana is extremely active in its approach addressing the terrorist threat, and is frequently provides guidance to other states. "Our Homeland Security Task Force is actively monitoring and addressing the state's security issues to ensure our citizens' safety," said Jim Greene, the task force's chairman. Public access and guided tours of the Capitol are still available. Visitors should report to the main security desk. -###- |
