First Meeting of Governor Martz's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Health Care Workforce Shortage Announced

(Helena) - The first meeting of Governor Martz's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Health Care Workforce Shortage will be held on November 1, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Room 152 of the State Capitol.
"As I have traveled throughout Montana, the need for a task force to address healthcare workforce shortage issues is incredibly evident," said Governor Martz. "Over the next 10 months, this task force will be researching the issues and making recommendations to address this critical issue. As they move forward to assess the current shortages, analyze trends to determine the future shortages, and consider our options, their input will help set a direction as to where we as a state need to focus our energies."
National data shows that the hospital workforce shortages are wide-ranging - from nurses and pharmacists to radiology and lab technicians to food service workers and housekeepers.
"This concern is real - and it is growing daily," said Governor Martz. "We need to learn what we can do to attract, retain, and support health care workers in our state. We need to recognize complementary approaches to recruitment and retention. These are the issues this task force will address. I am thankful to each of the members of this task force for their commitment to health care."
