(HELENA)-- Governor Judy Martz today announced her appointment of Michael Mulroney to the State Tax Appeal Board.

"Michael Mulroney has excellent background and experience as a tax attorney and has served as the Special Assistant Attorney General for the state Board of Investments,” said Governor Martz. “This background will be of great benefit as the board works to provide timely resolution of tax appeals. I am pleased to have Mr. Mulroney join the board as we work to serve Montana’s citizens.”

Mulroney earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Iowa and was admitted to the Montana Bar in October of 1962. Prior to his retirement, Mulroney served as a partner in Luxon & Murfitt of Helena, and as a partner in Scribner, Huss and Mulroney. Mr. Murphy’s term will end January 1, 2007.

The State Tax Appeal board is a three-member independent review board, separate from the Department of Revenue. Members are appointed by the Governor, and serve for six-year terms.

Mulroney replaced Larry Brown, who took a job in another state.

In addition to Mulroney, other board members include:
Gregory A. Thornquist, Chairman
JereAnn Nelson
