Governor Martz Makes Appointment to Fish, Wildlife and Parks CommissionFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (HELENA)-- Governor Judy Martz today announced her appointment of Michael Murphy, to the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission. He will represent District 1, which includes Lincoln, Sanders, Flathead, Missoula, Ravalli, Mineral, Granite, Powell and Lewis & Clark counties. "Michael Murphy has a strong background and the experience needed to serve Montana on this commission,” said Governor Martz. “His background as a fifth generation Montanan who is a landowner, agricultural producer, sportsman and expert on water issues will bring a strong perspective to the commission. I am delighted that he has agreed to serve Montana in this manner.” Murphy, who is the executive director of the Montana Water Resources Association, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agri-business and Master’s Degree in Economics from Montana State University-Bozeman. Prior to joining the Montana Water Resources Association as their executive director in 1993, he worked in various capacities with both the Montana Department of Agriculture and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. Mr. Murphy’s term will end January 1, 2005. The Montana Fish, Wildlfe, and Parks commission sets fish and wildlife regulations, approves property acquisitions and approves certain rules and activities of the department as provided by statute. Murphy replaced Rich Lane, who resigned from the commission for personal reasons. In addition to Murphy, other commission members include: -###- |
