Governor's Report on Terrorist Situation 9/12--9:00 a.m.FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Notes from this morning's Governor's Briefing: --The web site America Under Attack - Montana Emergency Response Information is up and running. --There have been no reported acts of terrorism in the state of Montana. --The nation remains in a Threatcon Delta - the highest level of alert. --The NEMA conference that was being held at Big Sky, Montana will be shut down as of noon today. Except for a few individuals, all NEMA Conference Attendees have returned to their home states via military aircraft, which received clearance and took off last night. DES will keep two staff members there to assist with those individuals and the return of rental cars. --Search and Rescue Teams from around the nation are on their way to assist in New York and Washington, D.C. --Airports are tentatively scheduled to open by noon today - FEMA does, however, anticipate some delays in that process. --For those who desire to help, the ideal donations are monetary donations or donations of services. Contact your local Volunteer Organizations for contributions of money. Contact the FEMA Donations Section at (202) 646-2452 for donations of services. --Montana schools will remain open and conduct classes as normal. --State employees will conduct business as usual (with continued heightened security) and those employees who were sent home as a precautionary measure have or should report to work. The Federal employees that were sent home are back to work. --Price gouging with gasoline is becoming an issue nationwide. --The State DES Office will be operational 24 hours/day until further notice. --Jim Greene from Disaster and Emergency Services will be leaving Big Sky and probably returning to the office by 3:00 today --The next briefing will be at 4:00 this afternoon. This will likely be the last briefing --There continues to be extra security at the Montana/Canadian border. --The Montana personnel we have at the Pentagon are safe and accounted for. --Flags will continue to fly at half-staff. --The Governor encouraged everyone to donate blood.
