Governor’s Statement on Accident FindingsFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Due to the high level of interest regarding the subject of the accident involving Representative Paul Sliter and Shane Hedges, Governor Judy Martz issues the following statement. Earlier today, County Attorney Leo Gallagher released his findings regarding the automobile accident that tragically took the life of Representative Paul Sliter. I want to thank the County Attorney’s office and the Highway Patrol for their timely investigation, and for their work on the night of the accident. This administration fully respects the duties and responsibilities of both law enforcement and the courts. Shane Hedges remains on leave due to his emotional and physical injuries from this accident. Because of the legal proceedings, I have no further comment on this matter at this time. One of the qualities I so value in Montana is how individuals reach out to help each other. I thank the dozens of individuals who have contacted our office in the last few days to share their support and prayers. Be assured we are assertively continuing our efforts to grow our economy, bring better paying jobs to the state, improve our educational funding system, and reform taxes. # # # |
