Helena, MT - July 2, 2001 -- In one of the first major pieces of Governor Martz's new initiative to improve Montana's business image, the Administration has placed in the July 2001 in-flight issue of Horizon Air Magazine a 24-page full-color special promotional section on Montana. Titled 'The Ideal Work Environment,' the feature spotlights a cross-section of businesses to illustrate Montana's strong pro-business climate.

The special section launches 'Business Montana,' the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity's umbrella business marketing and promotional campaign unveiled two weeks ago by Governor Judy Martz.

"As any marketer will tell you, to make the sale you need to be in the 'circle of consideration'," said Governor Martz. "It is opening night for our public-private partnership in changing attitudes, perceptions and stepping into that circle. Corporate America, their consultants and individual entrepreneurs are going to be thinking about Montana in a whole new way."

The Governor's Office, Department of Commerce, Montana Economic Developers Association and a variety of Montana businesses worked together to create the feature.

"This form of cooperation enables Montana to put its best foot forward in telling our business story," said Mark Simonich, Director, Montana Department of Commerce. "Nothing sells like success. This type of feature article lets business people know we can help their business thrive."

"Our members, who represent virtually every organization throughout the state concerned with economic development, see this type of cooperative effort as a real plus," said Jim Davison, President, Montana Economic Developers Association. "We are a solid mechanism for carrying the message into every Montana community."

The Governor's office/Montana Department of Commerce is providing reprints of the section to advertising participants, who will also receive sales leads from Horizon Air Magazine. Reprints also will be part of the "Business Montana" marketing kit.

Horizon Air Magazine is the award-winning on-board publication for Horizon Air, and is read monthly by more than 416,000 travelers in the Intermountain West and along the West Coast. In July, 60 percent of the passengers are traveling for business.
