Governor Martz Seeks Heroes

(Helena)—Governor Judy Martz’s selection committee for the Montana Medal of Valor and Special Recognition Awards requests that applications for calendar year 2001 be submitted to the Governor’s Office by July 29, 2002.

To be eligible for the 2001 Montana Medal of Valor, nominees must be residents of the State of Montana who, at risk of death or injury, endeavored to save others from a life-threatening situation during calendar year 2001.

To apply, submit the name/names of the individuals involved in saving another’s life at the peril of their own, along with a written description of the incident. Names and phone numbers of witnesses are necessary. Newspaper articles, law enforcement or emergency response teams’ accounts or any additional information that can be provided would be helpful.

The 2001 Montana Medal of Valor Award Ceremony will take place in September at the Capitol in Helena. Governor Martz and Lt. Governor Ohs will present the awards. Recipients unable to attend the ceremony may have the award presented by the Governor at a later date in their hometown.
