"Throughout Montana and across the nation, health care costs are rising at exponential rates," said Governor Martz. "In addition, we face critical shortages in health care workers, and our state joins many others in trying to find solutions to address Medicaid shortfalls at the state level. It is my goal to bring together leaders in the health care industry, local and state governments, the business and labor sectors and consumer advocates to find solutions and opportunities to put Montana in the forefront as we address these and other health care issues."
The format for the conference will include panel discussions from health care leaders, perspectives on other states' approach to addressing health care issues, and a national health care outlook in the morning. During lunch and throughout the afternoon, participants will break into groups to address specific health care issues and opportunities.
"This summit is designed to be a dialogue between health care professionals, political leaders and others to ensure that solutions are presented that our administration may consider carrying forward in the next legislative session," said Governor Martz. "I strongly encourage those with an interest and knowledge in the health care industry to join us in developing positive solutions for Montana."
The conference will be held at the Student Union Building Ballrooms in Bozeman, beginning at 8:15 a.m. on May 17. A detailed schedule is attached.
Registrations for the event are due by May 6, 2002. Cost of registration is $25 and includes a brown bag lunch for participants. Due to seating limitations, conference numbers will be limited to 200 participants.
