Governor Martz Expresses Approval of Recent Snowmobile Decision

HELENA - Governor Judy Martz today issued the following statement
expressing
approval of Friday's order stating that Montana is now a party to the
federal lawsuit in Wyoming regarding snowmobile access to Yellowstone
National Park.

On Friday, February 13, Judge Clarence Brimmer entered an order stating
that
the State of Montana had a right to intervene in the lawsuit
challenging a
rule that would ban snowmobiles from Yellowstone and Grand Teton
National
Parks as well as the John D. Rockefeller Memorial Parkway.

"Our hard work continues to pay off. This is more positive news for the
people who care about Yellowstone National Park. With this decision
Montana
will now have a enhanced role in continuing our to fight to have the
rule
banning snowmobile usage in Yellowstone and the other parks declared
invalid. We must also make it known that as this process moves forward
that
Yellowstone is open. The National Park Service allows a set number of
guided
snowmobiles per day into Yellowstone National Park. I encourage
everyone to
experience Yellowstone in the winter."
