HELENA - Governor Judy Martz today announced the details for her 3rd
Annual Health Care Summit in Missoula on April 27 and 28. The Summit
provides a forum for discussion on the policy options available to solve critical health care issues.

"Montanans are very concerned about the continuing rise in health care
costs," Governor Martz said. "It is an issue that will become
increasingly important as our population continues to age. We are looking forward to highlighting the progress made since our first Health Care Summit in 2002 and examine ways that we can continue to move forward and help our most vulnerable citizens."

The Summit is set to begin in the evening on April 27, 2004, with a
discussion on prescription drug importation. The drug importation panel
will be moderated by David Forbes, Dean of the School of Pharmacy and
Allied Health at the University of Montana. Members of the panel include
several high-level advisors with expertise in pharmaceutical policymaking from the United States and Canada.

The health care policy conversation continues on April 28 when attendees
will hear from all eight gubernatorial candidates about their health
care priorities. Throughout the day, speakers and panelists will address
health care access, personal responsibility, and accountability within the
health care delivery system. Summit attendees will also be provided updates on the study of the uninsured population, the redesign of the Medicaid program, and the health care workforce shortage.

"We initiated these Summits to allow Montanans to have a voice in the
direction of state health care policy," Governor Martz continued.
"There is much work yet to be done and we cannot underestimate the challenges before us. We must remain focused on working together to find solutions that will curtail future cost increases without compromising the
quality of service."

Diana Clark, the Chief Executive Officer of LifeCenter Northwest and Liz
Fowler of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee are two featured speakers.
Other speakers include Dave Gibson, the state's chief business officer,
and the governor's budget director Chuck Swysgood.

According to Summit organizer Jean Branscum of the Governor's Office,
the registration list has topped 160, and there is space available for more interested persons to attend. The agenda and registration materials for the Health Care Summit can be found on-line at
www.discoveringmontana.com/gov2/summit. Registration for the
conference is $50, which includes the reception and lunch. For additional
information, contact Branscum or Linda Ashworth in the Governor's Office at
