Governor Martz To Hold Capital For a Day in Shelby

HELENA - Governor Judy Martz has announced that "Capital For a Day"
will be held in Shelby on March 31, 2004. As a part of this event, Governor Martz will proclaim the Shelby as the Official Capital for the State of Montana.

"We are excited about traveling to Shelby to address local ideas,
issues, and concerns," said Governor Martz. "We have an incredible opportunity in this state to bring government to individual communities. This not only helps the residents of the Shelby, but it also helps us to gain information about local community issues."

As a part of the day's activities, Governor Martz will work on the
issues related to Amtrak and corrections.

"Amtrak in the transportation backbone of Montana's Hi-Line," Governor
Martz said. "I will continue to work to make sure it serves the people of
Montana. I also look forward to the discussion about the needs of Montana's
correctional systems."

Members of the Governor's staff and cabinet will also participate in the
program throughout the day so that residents with concerns or issues
will have an opportunity for discussion.

"We have been pleased with the success of this event in our past sites
of Laurel, Hamilton, Sidney, Havre, Roundup, Townsend, Circle, Deer Lodge,
Lewistown, Glasgow, Dillon, Poplar, and Forsyth," Governor Martz said.
"Montana is such a diverse state, and we need to understand the impacts
of the decisions we make in Helena at every level and in every community."

The public is encouraged to participate in all of Shelby's Capital For
a Day activities. A schedule is attached.
