education, business, and community service will be visiting the nation of
Kyrgyzstan July 2 - 7 as part of the State Nation Partnership Program of the Montana National Guard.
"I am very pleased to be sending this delegation to Kyrgyzstan to represent
me on behalf of Montana and the United States," Governor Judy Martz said.
"This is an excellent opportunity to not only strengthen current
partnerships but also to develop new relationships in support of freedom
across the world. Since President Akaev's visit last year, I have been
encouraged by the progress in Kyrgyzstan and I know the delegation will have a very productive trip."
The delegation has a full schedule of meetings, public relations events,
conversations, and interviews to strengthen working relationships between
the United States and Kyrgyzstan. The meetings will include sessions with
President of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akaev, both chambers of the Kyrgyzstan
parliament, the Kyrgyzstan National Guard, the Kyrgyzstan State National
University, the Kyrgyzstan media, and a joint celebration of the
independence of the United States.
The delegation will also experience the economic and cultural offerings of
Kyrgyzstan as they tour the developing areas in Kyrgyzstan, visit the
National Park Ala-Archa, and attend a concert of Kyrgyzstan national music
and dances.
The State Nation Partnership Program started in 1995 with individual state
National Guard units partnering with former Soviet republics to foster
bilateral growth in democracy, military, commerce, and culture.
