Helena, MT – Governor Judy Martz has announced that her eleventh “Capital For a Day” will be held in Dillon on September 18, 2002. As a part of this event, Governor Martz will proclaim Dillon as the Official Capital for the State of Montana.

“We are excited about traveling to Beaverhead County to address local ideas, issues and concerns,” said Governor Martz. “We have an incredible opportunity in this state to bring government to individual communities. This not only helps the residents of Dillon, but it also helps us to gain information about local community issues.”

As a part of the day’s activities, the Governor will travel to the airport, the local schools and will meet with area businesses.

Members of the Governor’s cabinet will also participate in the program throughout the day, so that constituents who have concerns or issues to raise with a particular agency will have time to discuss their problems one-on-one.

“We have been pleased with the success of this event in our past sites of Laurel, Hamilton, Sidney, Havre, Roundup, Townsend, Circle, Deer Lodge, Lewistown, Glasgow, and Forsyth,” Governor Martz said. “Montana is such a diverse state, and we need to understand the impacts of the decisions we make in Helena at every level and in every community.”

The public is encouraged to participate in all of Dillon’s Capital For a Day activities.
