Helena – Today, Governor Judy Martz called the legislature into special session to amend House Bill 2, to provide an immediate effective date and to provide a retroactive applicability date of August 26, 2002. The special session will convene Friday, September 13, 2002, at 1:00 p.m.

“This call is to complete one task and one task only,” said Governor Martz. “This session will convene is to amend House Bill 2 to correct a technical error to conform the body of the bill to the title. I am confident that the legislature will act resolutely to complete this task in a timely manner.”

The legislature convened in special session on August 5, 2002, to address revenue shortfalls. During the session, they passed House Bill No. 2, under the Special Laws of August, 2002, on August 10, 2002, without an effective date.

“The legislature must complete this task in order for the bill to be implemented,” said Director of Budget and Program Planning Chuck Swysgood.
