The following outlines general licensing information. For specific information on filing an application, you will need to obtain the license application which includes a detailed listing of the requirements.A. Application Fee: All Fees are Non-Refundable

B. Education Requirements:

Must have completed 90 hours of pre-approved education, including the 15 hour National USPAP course and 15 hours of report writing. Applicants must demonstrate that their education involves coverage of all topics listed below with particular emphasis on the appraisal of one- to four-unit residential properties:
Core education courses must be at least 15 hours with an examination to obtain credit. An approved course list is available from the Board office. YOU must contact the providers of educational courses as to the time, location, and cost of the educational course you are interested in obtaining. Education that is not shown on the pre-approved list may be reviewed by the Board for approval on an individual basis. Certificates of attendance must be submitted with your application. If a college course will be used for credit, your college transcript must be submitted. |
C. Experience Requirements:

Must have completed 2000 hours of appraisal experience over a period of not less than 18 months. The experience log must be filled out in detail and you must log each appraisal. |
D. Examination Information:

Must have passed the real estate appraisers examination with a score of 75% Contact Applied Measurement Professionals to register for the examination and with any questions or concerns you may have. |

G. Continuing Education Requirements:

Upon every other renewal, licensees shall provide evidence to the board of having completed at least 28 hours of instruction in courses or seminars approved by the board, including the 7 hours National USAP update course. |

All information and/or documentation is required at least 45 days in advance of the next scheduled board meeting date. An application will not be reviewed until all materials are received and accepted. |
CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL APPRAISER

The education for this certification shall place particular emphasis on the appraisal of one- to four-unit residential properties. MENTOR

Shall make application on forms approved by the board and submit two appraisal reports prepared in accordance with USPAP standards Must have a minimum of two years licensed or certified appraisal experience Must certify to agree to provide on-going supervision of all licensed trainees May not have more than 2 licensed trainees under their supervision at any time Must inspect the first 100 properties with each trainee under the mentor's supervision |
TRAINEE

1. Must have completed 40 hours of approved qualifying education in the

After licensing must be under the direct supervision of a board approved mentor
Must complete an additional 50 hours of approved qualifying education within the next 12 months or the next renewal, whichever is greater. Fifteen hours must be in the area of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

| Temporary registration may be awarded for a 6-month period and renewed one time within the 12-month period following the original date on which the temporary registration was issued. If you anticipate having ongoing assignments in the State of Montana you will need to make application for a permanent license. |

Upgrading Current License Status
LICENSED APPRAISER TO CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL APPRAISER

For specific information on filing an application, you will need to obtain the license application which includes a detailed listing of the requirements.To upgrade from a licensed real estate appraiser to a certified residential real estate appraiser, an applicant may use education and experience obtained for licensure as a licensed real estate appraiser.
