New EMT Exam Information

 


 

MEDICAL DOCTOR:

A score of 75 or more on one of the following:

National Board of Medical Examiners Examination (NBME) Parts I and II, taken before January 1, 2000; or Federation Licensing Examination (FLEX) Component I, taken before January 1, 2000; or USMLE Steps I and II and for foreign medical graduates not eligible for the fifth pathway, a score of 75 or more on ECFMG.

USMLE Step III must be taken within seven years of the applicant's first examination. A score of 75 or better must be obtained within three attempts.

Prior to January 1, 2000, the Board will accept the following combination of examinations passed with a score of 75 or more:

NBME Parts I, II and III or NBME Part I or USMLE Step 1 plus NBME Part II or USMLE Step 2, plus NBME Part III or USMLE Step 3; or FLEX Components 1 and 2 or NBME; or FLEX Component 1 plus USMLE Step 3; or NBME Part I or USMLE Step 1, plus NBME Part II or USMLE Step 2, plus FLEX Component 2.

After January 1, 2000, the Board will accept only USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3 passed with a score of 75 or more.

DOCTOR OF OSTEOPATHIC:

The Board will accept an examination by the National Board of Examiners for Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, or its successor, passed with a score of 75 or more, regardless of date of examination. AOBNMM

DOCTOR OF PODIATRIC MEDICINE:

The Board will accept an examination administered by the National Board of Podiatry Examiners and is a diplomate of the National Board of Podiatry Examiners. CHAUNCEY GROUP

FOREIGN MEDICAL GRADUATE:

A foreign medical graduate must pass the examination of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) with a score of 75 or more.

The ECFMG requirement may be waived for graduates of Canadian medical schools if the school is approved by the Medical Council of Canada or successors.

INACTIVE OR RETIRED LICENSE:

A physician seeking to reactive a license which has been inactive or inactive retired for the two or more years preceding the request for reactivation must pass the Special Purpose Examination (SPEX) given by the Federation of State Medical Boards.

ACUPUNCTURIST:

Applicants for licensure must meet the requirements for and pass the examination prepared and administered by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and must pass all three components of the examination in sterile needle technique.
